Supertrend indicator settings

Incorrect settings can make the Supertrend line too sensitive or too slow. A line that flips too often may cause confusion in sideways markets. A line that reacts too slowly may delay trend entries.

The Supertrend indicator has four key settings:

  • Period (1–50, default 7): This determines how many candles are used to measure average volatility. Shorter period reacts faster with more flips. Longer period reacts with a smoother line with fewer false signals.
  • Multiplier (1–10, default 3): This adjusts how far the line sits from the price. A lower multiplier moves the line closer to the price and makes it more sensitive to small price movements. A higher multiplier moves the line further away from the price and makes it more stable with fewer flips.

Line thickness and color can also be changed to make the indicator easier to read.
