Is demo trading the same as real trading? Key differences on Olymptrade
The key difference between a demo and a real account is the type of funds used. On demo, you can trade with virtual funds, while a real account uses your own capital.
Both accounts use real-time market data, including charts and quotes. The main distinction is the emotional experience and financial outcomes.
Demo vs. real account:
- Funds. On a demo account, you trade with virtual money. On a real account, you trade with your own money.
- Risks. Demo trading carries no financial risk. Real trading involves the risk of losing your invested capital.
- Emotions. Trading with real money often triggers emotions like FOMO and greed. Demo trading is stress-free, since no real money is at stake.
- Psychology. On demo, you can make bolder decisions, while real trading encourages caution and discipline because real money is involved.
